Basketball Program

Hello BV Basketball Families!

We would like to gauge the number of kids interested in playing BV Basketball this fall. If interested, please register your child here: https://go.teamsnap.com/forms/276995

We are not collecting payments as of now. So please go ahead and register by July 31. As usual, spots will be guaranteed for returning players.

We still have a lot of outstanding issues to be addressed — reserving gym space (ARPD has not allotted court times yet), organizing league play (league boards must resume meeting), and agreeing to safety protocols. When those are resolved, we should have an accurate registration fee set.

Please send any suggestions and feedback to me at gavin900@gmail.com. We are very interested in restarting BV Basketball for the children with community safety in mind.

Feel free to forward the registration link to interested friends. We miss you all and cannot wait to get started again.

Regards,

Gavin Tachibana
Program Director

The BVUMC Youth Basketball program provides youth entering kindergarten through high school with the opportunity to play basketball in a safe, well-organized environment. The volunteer-run program emphasizes the values of teamwork, cultural awareness, and community service as well as development of self-esteem, confidence, and strong peer relationships in the context of spiritual community. While its origins are Asian American and Christian, the program is open to youth and families of all ethnicities, religions, and basketball skill levels.

Practice and League Schedule

Including practices and games, the season runs from September through February or March, depending on age. Games typically begin the first week of December and run through February. League games are held on the weekends at various gyms throughout the Bay Area. Our teams may also participate in tournaments and jamborees. Throughout the season, we schedule community service events, which are opportunities for players and families to engage in fun community-building activities together such as volunteering in beach clean-ups and at local food banks.
