COVID-19 update: During the pandemic, intergenerational worship services are held online every Sunday at 10:15 a.m. via Zoom. Elementary and middle school age children also have the opportunity to gather via Zoom on Saturday afternoons. For information on how to join, please contact us.
Church school classes are organized for the grade groups pre-K to 1st grade, grades 2 to 5 , middle school, and high school and incorporate curriculum from the ecumenical resource Seasons of the Spirit. Each week, the curriculum follows a highlighted scripture text from the Revised Common Lectionary using age-appropriate activities tailored for multiple learning styles. The highlighted text is also the focus for the adult worship and sermon. Church-school classes are taught by a team of volunteers who are parents, educators, and members of the church who love working with children.
Junior and senior high school students can also participate in an active youth program as well as summer camps sponsored by the Japanese American Caucus of the United Methodist Church. The junior high camp and senior high Asian American camp are opportunities for youth to explore their faith with peers from other historically Japanese American UMCs in a fun setting. Read more about the camps at www.njaumccamps.org.
